Thank you to everyone in our school community for a successful first term. Although we had a rocky moment with the snap shut down, all the students have embraced the new routines associated with the start of each school year. During the course of the term we have seen some great learning, fun incursions and excursions, sporting activities and social interactions happening in all year levels.
A special thanks goes out to staff and parents for volunteering their time in extra mural activities that have given our students additional experiences outside the classroom. Just in the last week or two we have had parents assist with sporting events, run a school disco, play a dominant role in fundraising activities, work in the canteen, sort out second hand uniforms, cook barbeques and attend working bees, which is a testament to their commitment to our school and students. We are very fortunate to have this support, which is not evident in many other schools.
Sporting successes - I am always immensely proud of the successes of many of our present and past students. Last weekend, the Victorian Surfing Titles were absolutely dominated by Bellbrae. In a state with nearly 7 million residents and thousands of surfers, our school produced outstanding results. Mia Huppatz and Willis Droomer, both recent ex-students, won state titles, as did present students Isla Huppatz and Jarvis Barrow. We also had top four placings by ex-student Remy Filer, and school vice-captain Jack Lindsay. This is nothing short of exceptional. Well done to these students and all the others who regularly compete in a range of sporting activities on a regular basis. It is also great to see so many of our students participating in sport on a recreational basis. We are all well aware of the positive benefits associated with health and fitness, and it certainly contributes to the good quality of life we experience here on the Surcoast.
Have a fantastic Easter break, enjoy this wonderful autumnal weather, keep safe, and I hope the Easter Bunny makes a generous visit to your house.
