I trust you all had a good long weekend and that all the women and girls in our community were especially acknowledged by your family and friends on International Women’s Day on Monday.

Curriculum One of the key areas we are focussing on this year is improving our Numeracy data. We have developed a new Maths Pedagogical Model that outlines very clearly whatconstituteseffective maths teaching and learning, and what our expectations and strategies are to achieve this at Bellbrae PS. We are also exploring ways to further engage students in mathematics, for example in STEM lessons, where students can practically apply mathematical concepts in fun and digitised environments. All staff will also engage in a day of maths professional learning on Monday 24 May, which will be a formal Curriculum Day.

Play spacesOn Friday after Assembly we are having a quick Working Bee in the area beyond the Edible Gardento help build creative play spaces in a natural environment. This new play spaceis being designedfor students who still want to be active, but don’t want tonecessarilyengage in traditional ball sport activities.

School Council MeetingThe School Council AGM will be held at 6pm this coming Monday in the Staffroom, immediately followed by the first meeting of the new members at 6.15pm. As I’ve mentioned in previous Newsletters, the School Council plays an important role in the governance of the school, and assists in setting out the long term strategic plan as well.

Girls FootyI hope there are some AFLW scouts planning to attend the inter-school footy competition at the end of the month, because some of our girls are showing some serious talent! Under the leadership and coaching of Mr Petering, they are all set to do well against other local schools in the round robin comp on Tuesday 30 March. Good luck to the girls and the coaching staff.
It seems we’ve all had a great start to autumn,
and are enjoying these last few warm
days before
Victoria begins to deliver its wintry best!
Enjoy the upcoming weekend and
I’m certain our
gardens are looking forward to the rain that has been
forecast for
Saturday.
