Welcome back to our Grade Prep, One and Two students - It was fantastic to receive the news yesterday that our P-2 Students will be back on site from this Friday. Although this still provides challenges to many of our families, at least we can get some sense of normality back into our teaching and learning for the junior students. Next week we are also hoping to provide all our normal services such as lunch orders and Before and After School Care for everyone on site. For the remainder of children in Grades 3-6, we will continue with the same remote model as we have been running. We are well aware that everyone is suffering remote learning fatigue, but please encourage your kids to engage in their interactive lessons right up until the end of term. Let’s all hope that everyone will be back at school by the start of Term Four.
Vaccinations – Some parents have contacted me regarding the school’s stance on Covid - 19 vaccinations. As a state school, we are guided by the DET. Their directive is as follows:
Can the school force students who are not vaccinated to get vaccinated?
No. Vaccination is voluntary for all Victorians, including students. Students can choose if they want to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
The more students who are vaccinated, the more protected our community and our school will be.
Can the school force staff who are not vaccinated to get vaccinated?
No. Vaccination is voluntary for all Victorians, including staff. Staff can choose if they want to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
To support this important safety measure for school communities, our staff can now access up to half a day’s release from duty for each dose they receive of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The more staff who are vaccinated, the more protected our community and our school will be.
School Council – Recently the Council has been providing important input into decisions regarding our OSHC and Cleaning contracts, equipment for the new canteen, better cycling access for students, parking outside the school, and the provision of play spaces. School Council members are all volunteers and we appreciate the role they play in the overall governance of our school.
School Facilities and community Groups – A number of people have enquired about using our school facilities for sport. The latest DET Operations Guide states that community members can use our playground equipment after school hours, but community and sporting groups are NOT permitted to use school facilities.
Have a great weekend. I won’t be making any more footy predictions this round, after being sledged by CATS supporters following them actually winning their last game. Enjoy the easing of restrictions, keep safe, stay active and love the life you live!
