Welcome back after ‘Lockdown 5.0!’ Thank you for supporting your children during remote learning, and we hope your lives are again slipping back into some sense of normality. Although our learning program will continue to function as normal, there are still a few restrictions that apply to schools which will impact on some of our operations. As such, our planned Open Day together with some incursions have been postponed, and School Assemblies will take on a different format. We will however be holding our Athletics Carnival on Thursday 5 August. With regards to visitors and school premises, we request that parents do not come on site, but rather contact the office if you need to collect or drop off your child outside the usual bell times. Also, please do not congregate in groups near school entrances and exits.

New Building – A big thanks to Louise Kahle for all her hard work during the holidays and the last lockdown, to ensure the senior learning spaces were inviting and refurnished prior to the students returning yesterday. The classrooms, STEM and Art Rooms, as well as the small group areas look absolutely amazing. We trust that this stimulating environment will promote deeper engagement with learning. After multiple moves and temporary relocations, all the other year levels are also now settled in their permanent rooms. Thank you to everyone for being so flexible and patient during the disruptions.

School Council Meeting – On Monday evening the SC met and held some interesting discussions focussing on numerous areas including some proposed new play spaces, enhancing student voice in learning, and the creation of new sub-committees. We also reflected on the recent Student Attitudes To School Survey and explored the new Developmental Curriculum we are implementing in the Foundation years.

Entrances and Exits – As the construction site offices have now been relocated to the southern car park, the two access points to the BER are now either via the oval, or along the designated path alongside the southern fence line behind the site offices. To enter the new senior block, one needs to cross the oval from the Basketball Court. All students can continue to use the entrance at the front of the school, or the gate at the Prep Playground. Please keep well clear of the driveways as staff now access parking at the rear of the school. To reduce congestion in School Road, please consider using the parking that is available near the tennis courts and Bellbrae Reserve, and encourage your children to walk down to school.

Enjoy this wintry weather, make the most of the great surf and our wonderful local environment, beware of the dreaded virus, and keep on loving life!
